'Vocal Fry' Creeping Into U.S. Speech - ScienceNOW

Wow, having read this I think my voice is almost entirely vocal fry. I’m part of a Lady Trend!

Dragging out the vocal fry forever at the end of a sentence is obnoxious, but isn’t vocal fry in general a natural consequence of speaking in a deeper voice? And doesn’t that give us a leg up? LADIES?
  1. everygoodusernameistaken said: that’s interesting stuff. It’s one of those things where once you hear about it, you hear it everywhere. It’s weird they call it a “disorder” though. What’s wrong with it?
